hi guy's & girl's
I am new here and have only just registered

I dont have an sd1 but I am after some advice from you guy's.

I have a BMW 3 series convertible and I am looking to transplant a EFI 3500 into it (sacrilage I hear you say lol)
as I have always been a fan of v8 engines and I think its kind of fitting for a convertible to have that v8 soundtrack

now the info I am after is what sort of price should I look to pay for a complete EFI 3500 lump

or a complete car that I can remove the lump from then maybe pass on whats left to a breakers yard or ebay

thanks in advance for any suggestions

Malcolm

I am of for a gander around the site now

Please don't kill an SD1 for it's engine. Especially not to put it in something worse like a 3 series.

If you cannot find an engine already separated from its home then You'd be better off finding a Range Rover. Plenty of them around.

I think your definatly on the wrong froum to to talking about "those" german cars and sticking a rover engine in it, if your intent on fitting one why not use the V8 from a old 540 which is far more powerful than a SD1 engine.

hey guys

I am not looking to ruin a mint example or anything like that
I love the old SD1 so I certainly would kill one for my pleasure
if I can find one thats already shot with tin worm then thats what I'll go with.

the car I have is not a new one its the old e30
so a bit of an icon not your run of the mill chav/rep wagon.

the 540i V8 was an option but from what I have been told they are heavier than the SD1
engine and I want to keep the pretty sharp handling the car already has.

and from what I have been told the range rover engine is not as powerfull as the SD1 EFI lump
hence choosing to go down this route

I knew my post was gonna be a bad one in the eyes of enthusiasts like yourselves
but hey somebody has to do it

I would try and get a later 3.9 Range rover engine as they are easier to find.
