Afternoon all
I'm having issues with the oil pressure/coolant temp/fuel gauges. they've been in and out a lot over the past few weeks as I'm trying to get them all working properly. As you may have read elsewhere last time I tried them the temp warning light was staying on until the car warmed up, and the coolant and fuel gauges were reading nonsense - varying between min and max.
Well I've had it apart again, and have put in a new voltage stabiliser and thermal delay unit (not entirely sure what that does!!) to see if that helps with the gauge problems. Haven't had chance to go out for a drive yet though, but the temp warning light has stumped me completely.
I've had a multimeter hooked up to the feed wires for the light and the voltage starts at about 12.5v and slowly drops as the car warms up. Where does this feed come from? I assume the sensor on the front of the inlet manifold is for the gauge, but where is the warning light sensor? And should the voltage be dropping doing that? I hate electrics!!!!
Any help appreciated!!
Cheers
