Are series 2 fine to go on a series 1 as Rimmers said they are different part numbers and that Series 1 ones are obsolete. The only difference i can think of is spindles being different. My neighbour only has one Wiper at the moment as one snapped in all this rain. I would try mine but the Car is in being sorted at the moment.

I think the main difference is the finish on the wiper arms.
Series 1, at least earlier cars, are silver arms. Later series 1
and series 2 arms are black. The fixing for the wiper itself to
the arm may differ too - pin on earlier cars, hook clippy thing
on later cars.

I think they will fit after all why would rover have changed the spindle? It's just that the guy from Rimmers was insistant that they were different because of the different part numbers.

Rimmers site lists only one part number for the linkage gear, though
the Rover parts list different ones for series 1 and 2. The exploded
diagrams look the same - spindle and nut, with cap.

The wiper blade itself attaches to the arm differently on later cars though,
so you'll need new blades.

Of course, you don't need the whole set Rimmers sell as series 1 cars
don't have tailgate wipers Razz

If you order the pair, check you get two slightly different arms. Rimmers
have sent me two driver's side arms! Luckily, it was the driver's which
was about to snap on my car....

Actually, Rimmers don't spot slight part differences as they've sent me
two passenger-side door seals, instead of passenger and driver.
Then the replacement turned out to be a passenger side too
