ive just bought this and yes i know its not an sd1 but they do share there engines that i do know it says it has a HG problem ?

No idea mate, the only thing I know is the 800's used a 2.5 VM turbo diesel

Yar, I visit Rovertech regularly - it's a good crowd on the whole.

There's a VM 2.4 SD1 headgasket set on ebay at the moment going cheap.

Didn't the Range Rover Classic get fitted with this engine in it's earliest days too before the 200tdi?

Might be worth trying some Land Rover specialists...
