|

I took off my intake manifold today (planning to fit EFI to the new car) and what I saw was a several mm wide gap between intake manifold and the heads. I always knew the stock porting sucked but I never even thought it sucked that bad. How much good would it do to port match the manifold and head (using the gasket as template for hole size)? No wonder theres only 155bhp from that carburated V8... _________________ Owner of 3 Rovers and 1 MG.

Best way to make easy power is to fit std 4,6 heads.. They are best for rover casting.. Ports are bigger and better flowing that any Vitesse heads.
You can get over 200hp easily with 3,5efi with 4,6 heads.. Slightly leaning in ports then you get say220hp inc std vitesse cam..
I speak with my own experience guys.. _________________ Timo.. |

Hi,
Do the 4.6 heads bolt straight onto the 3.5 block? Are all the studs in the same location?
What compression should be run? Do I need to change the pistons for this conversion?
regards

Ok, do I need to change the rocker covers?
Do I have to use the 4.6 gasket...correct?
This is good information.

You can use 4,6 heads and rockers + etc..
But if you use std steel head gasket wit 3,5engine with 9,35:1 pistons then you get near/over 10:1 compression ratio. + Then you must to measure lifters preload and also fit some shims under rocker shaft mounting, because rockers geometry is not correckt (i think) if use steel gasket..??
2 option is to fit composite head gasket.. Then you only must to adjust preload.. and your cr is 9,35 then..
Composite head gasket thickness is 1,2mm and steel ones is 0,5mm?
4,6head combustion chambers is 28cc and 3,5-3,9-4,2 is 36cc
Someone (Englishman) can explain this better if you donīt understand.. _________________ Timo.. |

as i recall they are a little bit different to the later 4.6 heads, and need some work to fit on the 35 as the the buick 300 block was a bit bigger then 35, i would look for some range rover 4.6 heads as we have said are 10 bolt to 14 bolt ones so get looking mate your never know whats around the corner!!! good luck if i find some i will post it for _________________ rover tp vitesse my dads old car!!!

Thx,
I'm looking hard.
So basically some 4.6 Range Rover heards and fit them with a composite gasket and we are good to go. Should go well with the Hotwire Injection I just bought |

v8man no offence, but your post is nearly unreadable. Really hard to follow what the heck your saying due to all the typos' specifically
" i fit was mine i would tin head gaskets" |
